Obituary of Edwin Joseph Mandell PARRENT
June 1, 1943 – February 25, 2012
Ed was 68 years young and fought a courageous battle with cancer. A respected Geophysicist, Ed’s passion was the Earth which made him very successful in his field. His career took him and his family half way around the world. His interests were many, from solar energy, architecture, farming, gardening, sailing and building Lego. Ed was “The Gadget Guy” and also loved following hockey and watching the Calgary Flames .
His memory will be kept alive by his loving wife of 47 years – Sharon, and his three daughters Rochelle, Kim (Barry) and Robyne (Nathan). Also – Luci Fuzz-butt (the family cat) Ed was always surrounded by girls. Survived by his grandchildren, Solange, Danae, Candiss and Christian and several nieces and nephews, Nicholle Carriere, Kevin (Sarah), Gisele (Greg), Bob (Sharlene) and Michelle and Marcus (Tammy) Borduzak and Shauna (Danny) Porodo and Scott (Gloria) McKean; 5 great nephews – Matthew, Nolan, Matej, Gus and Matthew. Also, two great nieces Jocelyn and Danielle. Uncle Ed always entertained and enriched the lives of those around him.
He will be forever missed by his two devoted sisters Maureen Carriere and Lou ( Don) Borduzak, his sister in law Lorraine (Morgan)McKean and his favourite mother in law Melvina Hart.
Ed was pre-deceased by his mother Alice and his father Fred Parrent and father- in-law Richard Hart.
In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so choose, donations can be made to The MS Society or The Meow Foundation (for Lucis’ friends). Two charities he firmly believed in.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.), on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com., or to arclight@nucleus.com
