Obituary of Donald Patrick McLauchlan

August 22, 1912 – February 24, 2012 Don McLauchlan beloved husband of Katy Lou of Calgary passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the age of 99 years. Born to a life of adventure in Whitehorse in 1912, Don spent 29 years in the RCMP. His most memorable postings were his 15 years in the arctic. Married to Katy Lou, his love and best friend, for over 65 years, Don is best known for his many stories, good humour and life-long commitment to physical activity in the outdoors. Besides his loving wife Katy Lou, Don is survived by his children Margaret, Louise (Jim), George (Elizabeth) and Sidney (Louise). He is also survived by his six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at Fort Calgary (750 – 9 Avenue S.E. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will follow at a later date at the RCMP Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.
