Obituary of Alvin W. J.

November 13, 1918 – February 23, 2012 Alvin “Al” Trott, beloved husband of Joy Trott of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the age of 93 years. Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, after a long life fully lived. Alvin was born at Delia but moved to Lacombe at an early age. Graduating from the University of Alberta in January 1945 he then served on the hospital ship “Lady Nelson”. After the war he practiced at the Baker Memorial Sanatorium from 1949 to 1956 when he moved to Golden BC. He retired from General Practice and moved to Calgary in 1990. Lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of sixty-five years, Joy (Mac Donald), children Bonnie (Glenn), Shawna (Steve) and David (Janette), grandchildren Sonia (Lynne), Russell, Garth (Trew), Taylor (Emily) and Spencer. Also siblings Ed (Eve) and Eleanor, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Walter and Selena, siblings Hazel and Ray, grandson Chad. Alvin was a true renaissance man, always curious and ready to philosophize. An avid reader he also authored two books. A lover of music, he played several instruments, took up painting, with impressive results. A lover of the outdoors Alvin was always up for a hike or a picnic or work at “bosky”, his beloved mountain retreat. He took to the computer in his 80s and was among the first in Canada to sign up for on-line access to his investments, at age 90! Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Golden, BC.
