Condolences
Richard was a great friend and we miss him dearly. We will always remember his mile wide smile and signature chuckle. Over the past 30 years or so we shared many fond memories with Richard including the many Halloween and Black and White parties he hosted at his Bridgeland home. Who could forget the house wrecking party where we were there with zip saws and crowbars tearing down the lathe and plaster and creating clouds of dust while we gutted the place prior to his major renovation project. Fortunately it took a while for the renos to come together so the skeletal remains of that old house became the perfect party venue for the next few years! One of our most memorable moments with Richard was when we were lying on a dock at a lake in Northern AB staring at the stars in the silence, when Richard suddenly blurted out "do you wonder if we're really here". As we all burst into fits of hysterical laughter at Richard's odd profound question we couldn't summon the strength to come up with a plausible answer. We told that story often and teased Richard about it for the next 30 years. Well Richard you probably now have the answer to that thought provoking question you posited so many years ago. One day we will see you again at a Stampede Party in the sky. We were fortunate to have known you and call you our good friend. We will cherish the many fond memories of our times together. Love Greg and Sharlene
My thoughts and Prayers are with Sherry and the boys and their family and friends. May God be with you always.
So sorry to hear of Richard passing away. I worked with Richard on a number of projects over the years. I always enjoyed working with him and appreciated his vast knowledge. He was always working to make the workplace safer for everyone, which I think made the world a better place. I will always remember and miss his big booming laugh.
Dear family, I met Richard when he worked as a contractor for Aon and off course at the many Chelonian's where we played golf, drank beers and ate prairie oysters. Richard was for sure a good golf player where he won a few prices as well. Longest distance, or closest to the pin. We will miss you Richard! Also my sincere condolences to the family and friends. I met Richard many years ago while working at NOVA. Over the years, we got together for many laughs, a few beers, and the sharing of many stories. I am so fortunate to have known Richard. He will surely be missed. Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of a husband and father, and to all of us, and those, that lost a good friend.
Dear Sherry, my heart goes out to you and the boys. No words can ease your pain at this time, but please know that we think of you as family and are sending you healing thoughts, comfort and love.
So many wonderful memories, where to start. Gord met Richard at university where I first met Richard at their graduation. Richard was a very handsome and charming young man in a slightly tight baby blue suit. His zest for life was so endearing - he always lived every day to the fullest.
He became the idolized ‘Uncle Richard’ to our boys. He was part of our family and entertained us often with his boisterous adventures. Richard’s big heart was undeniable and so appealing.
We were so very happy when Richard found his much loved Sherry and was able to fulfill his dream of being a husband and father. Nickolas and Patrick are so lucky to have had such an amazing father, who will live in them forever.
Richard celebrated his life every day and we will always remember his bigger than life spirit.
Love to you all - Jana, Gord, Matthew and Mark
Richard and I first crossed paths during the Nova days. I admired Richard for his courage to enforce responsible engineering. Not an easy path to walk. He was a solid engineer who stood strong for a safer world. Huge heart. My deepest condolences.
I met Richard at a number of Chelonian and Process Safety Engineering meetings in Calgary; he struck me as a very honorable individual. I am saddened to hear of his passing. To his family and friends, please accept my condolences.
Regards, Sylvie
Lots of great memories when Richard would come visit Steve when we lived together in university. Always lots of laughs when Richard was around, he was a great guy. He will be missed. Sincere condolences to his family.

Its hard to believe that you have left us big brother. It is not like we saw each other often but the void is there. I have always looked up to you. Your strength and conviction, determination. You always seemed to know what to do, you never buckled under pressure and you fought hard. I sure did like your laughter! I wont forget the time when i was a preteen you brought home an adult dog saying it was for me because i wanted a dog....well a puppy. Needless to say, you were dog sitting. Well played big bro! Love you always.
My brother Richard made a huge impact on my family. We shared so many fun summers at the lake together. Re-connecting our two families together each year was something we looked forward to. Richard loved the water and boating, sea doo-ing and surfing with his boys and his nephews. These are memories that we will never forget. We will miss him! Love Stephan, Nicole, Connor, and Matthew
